Tes awards 2017
On Friday, Team Oakwood made the trip down to London to represent the Academy at the annual Tes Awards, where our brilliant Early Years were shortlisted for 'Early years setting of the year'.
It was the second year running that Oakwood has been shortlisted for a Tes award; last year we were up for 'International School of the year'.
It was such an honour to be nominated at the prestigious awards, standing alongside other schools representing the best of what education can be.
Unfortunately, we didn't win the award, it instead went to the fantastic Everton Nursery School and Family Centre in Liverpool. But regardless, Oakwood is always a winner in our eyes!
We are so proud of Mrs Birdsall and her team for the work they do year in, year out to provide the best possible care and level of teaching for our students. Their work is nationally recognised as an example of best practice, and they regularly host practitioner visits at the setting.
The early years team used the trip down to London to visit the exhibition of our students' work at the Early Excellence centre. Early Excellence is an industry leader in early years provision and practice, and an organisation with which we have an established relationship. Having Oakwood's work on display there is an honour that reinforces the amazing work being done at our little setting in Gipton.
We would also like to thank the entire Oakwood community for supporting the work we do within the Academy, the things we do here would not be possible without the love and support of staff, parents, carers, students and the local community.
