Isma kicks off Fairtrade Fortnight

Today is the first day of Fairtrade Fortnight, and to get things started superstar Isma delivered an amazing assembly to the rest of KS2.

Isma is President of the Global Committee and is passionate about making the world a better place. Not long ago she spoke in front of the Lord Mayor delivering a memorised speech about being a 'Global Citizen'.

Along with other students from Oakwood, Isma attended the Fairtrade Schools Conference at The Co-op headquarters in Manchester, she already cared alot about Fairtrade and after the trip decided to bring something back for everyone else.

In her own time at home (with just a little help from dad), Isma put together a 20 minute presentation with photos, facts and videos to explain why Fairtrade is so important. She then delivered the assembly with no script! But apparently this is no big deal...

"It only took me a day to learn it, I'm very good at learning things off by heart"- Isma

Thanks to Isma we kicked off our Fairtrade Fortnight in the best way possible, letting our students show how they are being the change.

It's amazing to see our students feeling passionate about world issues, and even better when they share them with the school community.
