Open Doors For Our Fantastic Early Years Setting

This week Oakwood’s Foundation Stage opened its doors to early education practitioners across Yorkshire.

The inspiring setting in Oakwood’s Foundation Stage is nationally recognised as a home for best practice. An invitation to attend an evening to view the setting was sent out to schools in Leeds, with an astounding 90 early years practitioners arriving.

The exhibition of, ‘Running, Rockets and Rainbows’ showcased projects which began as the interests of one or two children. Opportunities offered to all children resulted in the creating of lots of different work with varying themes.

The Unit is set out into varying rooms, stimulating imagination and senses with great outdoor play areas to offer further alternative environments.

Oakwood’s long-term partnership with the Early Excellence centre in Huddersfield has led to the continued development of quality EYFS settings at the school - Where work created by one of Oakwood’s young, aspiring photographers, Dianna, will be showcased later this year.

The Foundation Stage unit is a community of learners. With over 40 languages spoken across the school, Oakwood aims to offer provision rich in possibilities, providing all children with exciting environments of enquiry and discovery. Provision allows children the freedom to explore their interests, which staff respond to in different ways.
